Welding fume as a mixture continues to be evaluated under state-level occupational health programs. California’s occupational health agency has proposed lower permissible exposure limits for manganese, which could accelerate respirator adoption in high-volume welding states.
Regulatory trends are moving toward tightened fume controls rather than looser market access. Suppliers that maintain synchronized documentation across NIOSH, OSHA, ATEX for flammable environments, and EU notifying bodies will reduce time-to-market risks.
